Thanks for that Aijin. That site has more info on it that other sites I have looked at. Appreciated.
Do you know anyone who has done the train trip? I believe the Mongolian express (train) is better than the Siberian express (train). Better facilites I am told.
I do think it should be done and I shall do it when I get the time/excuse...
Anyhows these folk do have an 'office' in HK... it may be a tad not 5* but they know what they are talking about and what to expect... call them and arrange a time to go chat... they will be happy to answer any enquiries or concerns honestly... 2723 1376...
And just go for it... but I would suggest a decent hotel in Moscow and a flight back!... train trips are wonderful but water pressure/a real bed/food etc can be missed.
Hi there. I took the trans mongolian express but it was an awefully long time ago (1992 i think). facilities on the train were basic to say the least. food could be bought at all the stops from the ladies selling anything from cooked pototoes to hardboiled eggs. champagne onboard the train was us$1 and an aweful lot was drunk! there were many touts at moscow train station offering accommodation which we took. 6 of us shared a flat in a suberb of moscow which was great fun. p.s. i was travelling alone but met people on the train. it was a great one-off experience but a one-off nevertheless! have fun :-)
