Ok I need some help on this as I am not much of a tech wizz.
We have account with I-Cable for internet which they provided us with one broadband modem. The thing is we have to pc'c and would like to use two pc's at the same time using this one modem. We dont have wi fi so can't use wirless is there a way to use both of our pc's at the same time using one modem?
You need to buy a multi-ports router (costs HK$200 - 500) and to connect in between ur broadband modem and your 2 PCs. I believe the router would provide enough instruction of how to setup and configure itself.
I would not recommend sharing a connection. It's such a kludgy solution and frequently has issues. Besides, you need a second NIC in the computer that shares. By the time you bought a decent one you might as well spend a touch more and buy a router.
A cheap router is the way to go. Get a wireless one since they are cheaper despite having more functionality. I swear by the WRT54G from Linksys but it's not the cheapest ($350-400 probably). A D-Link or Netgear can be had for probably under $200 if you shop around.
