Hi, can anyone tell me how to burn a copy of all my e-mail from outlook express
Recentely when I open up outlook express for a second time I keep getting a box telling me 'this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down' but when i restart my pc it is ok. Another message is 'probable cause -low memory or not enough disk space'
I am worried that I may lose my complete history very soon as my pc is quite old.
Managed to find a link on the website which told me to change a .dbx to a .old file which worked fine, I can now send + receive e-mail again only problem is all my history disapeared as feared.
I did make a copy of all the e-mails to a folder first but when I try to open that, it tells me the file has to be opened with word pad, this takes an age and when it does eventualy open the text is a mixup of many small squares, dollar signs stars and a lot of other symbles.
To backup ur mails for OE. You need to locate the file which is called .dbx file and copy it into a disc or a portable drive. Location for OE files in WinXP is:
Documents n Settings > User Account > Local Settings > Application Data > Identities > {some sort of numbers} > Microsoft > Outlook Express
Copy the whole folder n backup. Please make sure u choose Show Hidden Files in order to go thru all those folders otherwise u won't see it. To show hidden files go to :
My Computer > C:\ Drive > Then click on Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > Tick show hidden files n folders > OK
